New Home For The Crimson Seed Crackers. Added another movie

Post by JohnBoy » Tue Oct 12, 2010 6:33 pm

I took one of the 6 ft. tall round cages I had made and thought I would try laying it on it's side. Now it is 6 ft long and 26" deep and 26" high. It really looks cool. The seed crackers love it! Whatcha think?

The horizontal space is so much more beneficial. Good thinking and it does look cool. :D

Nice!! Who says a cage has to be square... :-)
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

I love the length of it but I think they lose a lot of flying space by not having it square. The corners are cut off (so to speak). It's 26"x26" in the middle diameter only.

But darn, it sure looks good! And as long as they enjoy it - that's what counts!! =D>

But hey, they have a whole 6 ft to fly back and forth. Before they had only 24" x 18". I could eventually try them in the aviary with the larger birds and watch them closely but they will have to winter in my hallway. We've gotten into the low 40's already. It's just too late to acclimate them.

Utterly cool! I love the shape and look of the round cage.

I got the hallway cleaned up today and placed the cage in it's permanent winter spot. Put a plant on each side of the cage. I think I may drape vines on the top of the cage to give them more privacy. They have calmed down somewhat but they are still really spooked.

It looks terrific John...The extra flight room is nice! Hope they settle down and enjoy their new space!
