Guess I'll have to catch up and read what Tiffany got in the morning. It is 3 minutes to my bedtime. Getting up at 4:45am sucks! But I'll be checking on here before I leave for work - not often I do that!

Jeez! I thought my shift was bad lol. I work 10pm-7am and would gladly work that over actually having to wake up at 4:45am lol!L in Ontario wrote:Guess I'll have to catch up and read what Tiffany got in the morning. Tiffany they are beauties! The white is stunning. Congratulations! Shaftails are one of the species I own that I love, They can be more comical than zebras. They have such personalities and can be very friendly. Congratulations again!

Re: I've got a secret...
Thanks!!
Yeah - he only had two creams but almost all of the normals he had were males and most of those were all /Cream except a couple.. and that Cream hen I picked out was stunning.
The other was pretty, but her markings were not as pronounced and she wasn't as active as this one.
I love their antics, especially the "bee bee beeeeeeeeeee" that Friedrich does at night and in the morning, and the way they bop their heads up and down. I was cracking up watching all of them at the show. It didn't take long before I was like.. okay, I want a pair, I know I want that hen, now pick out a nice male for me
Misty kept trying to talk me into them but after all the stories I hear about how awful they are at parenting, and with my experience with the Cordon Bleus I had, I was really leery. I'll give it a shot, if they won't parent, they'll at least be a beautiful entertaining addition

Re: I've got a secret...
Tiffany, mine are (were) wonderful parents. I lost my male due to fright at night. My husband was in the hospital, we had a thunderstorm and I slept though the noise in the cage...I wish I wasn't so tired, it was unusual for me not to wake up.
Anyway, they raised 4 wonderful clutches and were such loving parents. I have all 5 of the young from their last clutch, one male offspring is so friendly it wll come over to you right away. Give them a open faced nest box, I found that it was roomy enough for all their offspring.
This last clutch has such personality. They bathe and splash water all over the place, then run to the bars and lick the water droplets off. If I am near cleaning I look over and they are all lined up looking down at me to see what I have. They are so cute. I just bought a new female 2 weeks ago to put with one of the boys. Can't wait for little shaftails again, they are adorable but very loud beggers. Donna warned me about that and she was right.
You will enjoy them! Wait till they start sitting on eggs, the male and female take turns straightening each other's tails!
