Gouldian males, red head coloring

Post by Meagan83 » Tue Oct 26, 2010 10:16 am

I have a male Gould (red head)that is split to blue and he has a black outline of feathers around his beak. None of my other red head males have this. Does anyone else have any males like this? Just curious.

I checked my photos and I can't say any of my RH's have had red around their beak. I'd love to see a pic.

This is a male I bred last year... I would not say that they have black feathers but they appear dark due to staining.

And this is one I bought

I've had red-heads like that too - I just don't consider that a black ring around the beak.

Candace, yeah, that's pretty similar. I think his seems a bit more pronounced. I was not sure if this was considered "bad genetics" or what.
