Re: Silver gouldian inheritance
Bill, his message did come across (to me) as rather abrupt. I won't be looking at his website any further either.

Re: Silver gouldian inheritance
I have been ordering direct from this company for at least 10 years and have always gotten great service. They usually don't sell direct unless the stores in your area doesn't carry their stuff. I think they do the majority of birsiness to wholesale purchasers.... probably best too if they aren't curtious to the customerB CAMP wrote:Liz

Am glad i never ordered any supplies from them

I guess since I call them every month and have since forever, they just take my order and are chipper. Before Mr. Abba passed last June, he would many times get on the phone and chat about my breeding results. He had a real passion for the birds and would write and visit aviaries all over the world. He loved many of the products of other countries and was glad to make them available to us here in the states. The only company that did here in the states. I hope that since the sons have aquired the business that things don't go down hill

I was thinking the same thing Candace. As long as I can remember they have always preferred their customers use their distributors.
Always enjoyed reading about his writings of his aviary activities.

Re: Silver gouldian inheritance
I have found a few places on the web that sell this product but most of them are in the UK. Shipping kills that deal
I am wondering if anyone else has tried the Cédé premium protein mix? This product is also made is belgium, I started using it after the last bird mart. Will let you know if I see a difference.
On the subject of the Abba response that Liz received. I can understand that they might prefer potential. buyers to use their outlets, but their is always a positive way to respond to their potential customers. The response that was given to Liz would have left a bad taste in my mouth as well, it just wasn't very professional. IMHO

Re: Silver gouldian inheritance
I'm not going to go on and on about Abba Seed but only want to point out that in my original email I did state that my local dealer does not stock Breedmax and that I heard they did so I asked the pricing. I also requested an electronic mail-order catelogue.
No matter - I was only interested to know the pricing and shipping cost. I don't need another supplement but their response is certainly not how I would ever respond to a potential customer. I might have checked dealers in the customers' area to see if I could locate a distributer for the customer or I would have referred them to another source. And for crying out loud - who doesn't know to NOT use capitals!
Sorry - getting ticked now, the more I think of it. Stepping down from the soapbox.
End of story.

That's funny ... I correspond with a couple of people that ALWAYS use caps. I always think they're yelling at me and till I tell them to stop yelling they just don't get it. LOLAnd for crying out loud - who doesn't know to NOT use capitals!

Cédé premium protein mix?
not the same thing definately and in fact has nothing to do with breedmax. Breedmax is basically a multivitamin that goes in eggfood or on sprouted seeds or fruits but never in the water.
If you can find versele laga try their product called OPTIBREED instead. Much inferior I beleive but will do some of the trick but this product is reccomended basically only in breeding period. Breedmax is all year round vitamin that you change the amount and times you offeer it to the birds. A much simplier approach to bird keeping than having to give a ton of products.
The other basic difference is that Breedmax smells really nice, you would almost want to eat it! and this helps even the most picky birds to eat their softfood I think. Optibreed smells like medicine.
There is one more product similar to optibreed from Quiko and called Quiko Plus (not Forte).

Re: Silver gouldian inheritance
I just stocked up on Quicko eggfood - made in Germany. I'm about to switch from Versele Laga Orlux Tropical Finch eggfood to Quicko. I've heard Quicko is better but I don't know yet. The expiry date is much longer but we'll see how the finches fare with it when I make the switch.gouldianscy wrote:There is one more product similar to optibreed from Quiko and called Quiko Plus (not Forte).

Re: Silver gouldian inheritance
Quiko eggfood is a different thing than the Quiko Plus which is a supplement. Eggfood by itself won't do it. All three products, breedmax, optibreed, quiko plus or forte are supplements that are mixed in the eggfood. As far as eggfood you can use any brand you like as long as your birds eat it. Since it doesn't matter how mucvh protein or else they contain because you will be adding a supplement to your eggfood.
One more possitive thing about breedmax is that it has the highest percentage of protein but the most important is that it is vegetable protein from potato and soya. Animal protein is not suitable for small birds so breedmax is much better for finches, canaries, etc than the other two supplements or eggfood. So it's better if you choose a low protein eggfood to avoid animal protein and add breedmax in it to raise up the protein level.
We are off topic though so I will continue in the appropriate section of diet and mention another supplement that I use if you are interested of course that is.

Re: Silver gouldian inheritance
Maybe this thread could be moved to diet and nutrition. Very interesting info. I used this product for years when breeding canaries. I have never had the need to use it on my finches...Lord knows they need no help in reproducing
The breedermax contains peptido glycans which aid in the prevention of infections. Also unsaturated fats containing essential fatty acids that trigger the hormones that stimulate hormones for breeding. Coupled with birds wanting to breed and a prevetative against infection... well = good results.
Since the product is not currently available here you may want to look for these ingredients in your other suppliments. Unsaturated fatty acids are found in the milkseed of most grasses, like canary grass. Though you need to grow this to have it avaiable. Also fresh boiled egg yolk contain good stuff though it is saturated fat

Looks like you were exactly right.gouldianscy wrote:you cannot find it in the States. I know a small quantity was imported last year and I think they run out of it a long time ago.
Jordan - nice to see you got a decent reply from AbbaSeed.
