Misty, they do land in the greenery and it gets messy. When assembling the greens in the cages I try to position it so that if they do sit in it they aren't pooping on branches and food. The zebras sit in the ones in the corners of the cage. They try to nest in it which can get dirty. When redoing the cages/flights I try to add the greens but fasten it close to the top and sides in the corners to try to keep them from doing this since the flights are for resting and recooping after raising young. They still find a way into the greens and I find eggs in the centers all the time...or on the floor of the cage, zebras are the worst at this.

Thanks Candace. The only ones that shred anything are the green singers. They shred only to the edges of one big leaf silk.

You know what they say......"When it rains, it pours!"......Seems like it's been hurricane season around here for quite a while..... :(

Work has been extremely stressful, my son had been having an exacerbation of a chronic health issue as well as now being newly diagnosed with diabetes.......

My fids are all good though, except I lost my Star finch yesterday. I think he injured himself during a night fright two days ago. He was puffed up for about a day and a half, then passed yesterday.

I do have a night light for them, but I am going to add another or figure something else out.....

Christine, so sorry to hear about your son, hope he will be ok. Also so for your loss, will you replace the star?

Thank you, Cindy. He is holding steady at this point, and doing well adjusting to the new routines/changes with the diabetes. I'm really proud of him! =D>

I would like to replace the star at some point. He was a red faced rescue from Petco, very sweet. He looked like a female (with the smaller mask), but he sang beautifully. :)

I really like the yellow face stars, too. Not sure if I will get red face or yellow face when I get another....

Love the photos of the flights from a distance Cindy. They are so visually pleasant to look at the way you have them decorated. Being they are a part of your living area that is important. Good Job!

I have an opening in my calendar the first week of December for you to come up to my house and decorate my cages for me....I will have the Hot Chocolate and Spiced Apple Cider ready.

Anytime Deborah....I love doing the cages! Some day I hope to have the room to do a large one big enough to stand in. I can get in and decorate from a finches perspective!!!

You said these are resting cages for the breeding birds; do you move even the owls in and out of cages? Do you leave the owls due to their sensitive nature? I see some nests in their cages, a few that appear to be set up sideways?

Your cages are very nice looking.

The only resting flights are the shaftails, zebra, black cheek. The owls and Goldbreast share a flight and have nests. The goldbreast have produced and the owls have nested but no eggs as of yet...debating now that the owls are older whether I should remove my most active and bonded pair to a breeder cage, they have attempted mating but one of the other female owls dive bombs the male is he tries to mate with his bonded female...though that has calmed down some now.
