I love stars too.
Have a question on your shaft tails. They look alot like Parsons. what's the difference?

I know you're not asking me but I'll answer in the meantime, if I may - I believe the difference is the red bill and feet. I just saw some Parsons for the first time this past weekend and I thought they were Heck's / Shaftails or Longtails (all the same thing) just with black beaks until the breeder told me they were Parsons.

Liz is right on. :D The parsons finch when adult will have a black beak, and the shaftail will have from orangish to red beak. The tail is also shorter on a Parsons.

YES - that was the other thing the breeder pointed out to me - the Parsons have a shorter tail. Good one Janine! =D>

Nice stars. You don't see them that often here. I hear they have a nice song. :D

A very nice but very quiet song - quieter than the Gouldians, I find.
