Cuttlebone vs Mineral block?

What's the difference? Is one better than the other? Does it just depend on what's in the mineral block? I was just wondering. I always give my birdies a cuttlebone and oyster shells.

You have it right. Cuttlebone is much more necessary than mineral block - most of my fids don't touch that and I don't buy it anymore. Osyter shell is right up there with cuttlebone too.

Awesome! Glad to know I'm doing the right thing! I just figured I know what a cuttlebone is made of, but I wasn't so sure about the blocks. Aristotle and Socrates LOVE their cuttlebone. They hollow the thing out in no time at all. As a matter of fact, they've done a number on the one they have now...it's about time for a replacement.

What do you do with the ones that are just about hollowed out or fall out of the cage bars? I save all my "little" cuttlebones and when I gather up a bunch (over 6 months or a year), I put them in the food processor and grind them down to a powder. Then I can use that in their eggfood, kelp or other food.
