Thanks for the kind comments, everybody.

Yup. Another arm and leg to go for the girls and I'll be done for a while... (I hope, since I'll be down to a torso  ...!) I really want to see what I can do with the breeds I have right now. .

Misty, I was so surprised at how big these YF Stars are -- this male YF star is just as big as my larger Parrot Finches -- a tad smaller than my gouldians -- I was thinking Stars were tiny birds and I have a RF Star that IS tiny -- this one is huge compared to the RF Star.

What is the normal size of the Stars YOU had? Maybe I just have a David and Goliath --

I say really no bigger than a Fire Finch - a little bigger than an Owl but certainly not bigger than Parrot Finch

You have the SUPER STRAIN!

I bet they are gorgeous and will make beautiful babies!

OK -- yup. My RF star is about the size of a firefinch and here I was thinking he was scrawny and maybe not good breeding material -- he is just normal I guess. I was going to pair him with one of my YF hens (I have 2 YF hens) but she is double his size -- they'll be no question who wears the feathers in THAT family!

But... maybe he'll like LARGE females?

I do have another question -- if he DOES like her and she him will their size disparity cause problems when they... uh... do the act?

I should take a picture of the 2 male stars together -- it's pretty hilarious how different in size they are... maybe I'll do that some day soon.
