I've pretty much gotten into the same pattern as you. They settle once I cover them.
Well I'll see how it goes. Right now they've tucked themselves into their nest and they're uncovered still. But they're always peering out when I walk by. Once covered they settle. I think too I worry about drafts. Even though they're away from the window, us Canadians have some awfully cold winter nights. It can get a bit drafty even with the curtains drawn.

Hope this helps. I use the fountain/tube feeder as it fits nicely on the outside of my cage, so I don't have to put my hands in the cage so often. Some cages don't have the right wires to put a hopper on the outside without cutting wires (like my hardware cloth cage).

I've been out looking but so far no luck in finding the seed
hopper. I'll keep trying!
For now I'm making sure I feed them twice a day.
