maybe it's a hybrid - green singers can breed with canaries, so maybe it's a mix of a dark coloured canary and green singer. - But I'm shooting in the dark, because I haven't a clue.

green singers fledge with full yellow chests however - and that I only know from the one chick my pair reared!

pretty bird though! does she have a nice song?

I think its Melanism, an increased amount of dark pigmentation, can occur if the diet consists of only dry seeds

I've read that melanistic birds were caused by a vitamin D deficiency and a diet rich in hempseed with a high oil content.
