Why do you use that particular herb, Fardad? What do you think it does for your birds?...
I use powdered dry-Rosemary extract (from an organic food store in my area).
It is agreat natural food preservative that has many natural medicinal benefits. It is a great enhancer of the immune system and it contains high levels of calcium. It smells such better than eggs...etc.
Is this "like" what you are using?

Extracts are typically more concentrated, correct ??-- but, Fardad, do you think any form of Rosemary would do the same thing as the extract?

I went to my local health food grocery store today, but the only rosemary leaf extract they had was in capsules, 45 capsules for $16.95. So I guess I will try to find it online.

A local linne, bourke, parrotlet breeder and a good friend of mine uses this, he weans his baby handfeds on it and gives it to parent birds to feed to their young...he swears by it.

I have been usung ABBA92 eggfood and my birds have tired of it. I am going to order it from a man in the area with a birdfood business, they deliver locally or if he does not have it readily in stock I am going to order it from foryourbird.com

http://www.foryourbird.com/mm5/merchant ... de=higgins

They also sell buk seed and pellets and I find their prices lower than most, shipping is reasonable and quick.

Addendum: I found a place online where I could buy 5# bags of almond meal, pecan flour, raw peanuts and chopped walnuts. Walnuts are the most expensive so I got a small bag but I thought the almond meal, pecan flour and raw peanuts were VERY reasonably priced for the quantity. The delivery was free, too.

The name of the place is My Spice Sage.

They had ground Rosemary in 5# quantities, too, but no processed Rosemary like the extract powder. :( Oh well.

Little word of caution...do not use the peanuts in a shell from your grocery store for your pet birds, they are not processed to remove the mycotoxins like they would be for bird grade peanuts. This is mostly a caution for the big birds that deshell their peanuts with their beaks.

I want to thank everyone that shared what they do or use - I'm going to stick with mine for a bit until I can do more in depth research...
