They are common in my area, southeast China. I keep some caught from wild. When they kept together with domestic ones, I'm sure they are one species.
The male is easy to breed with domestic female when adapted to the new environment. And it is believed the crossbreeding will improve the physique of baby birds.
The F1 shows a nearly wild appearance (somewhat paler than the pure wild) , sometimes with a little pie in throat. The segregation will occur in F2. The temper of F1 is between the wild father and domestic mother.
