female zebra needs companion?

Post by Ria » Fri Feb 25, 2011 2:30 pm

I have a female zebra all by herself right now; she got badly attacked by another bird in the old cage. She has mostly recovered, not sure the wound is 100% healed (she's so skittish, worst of all of them to catch). It happened about a month ago, and she's acting normally now.

I feel bad she's by herself, but if she's not fully healed, I don't want another zebra male that will try to breed with her.Not sure if a female is a good idea either; the cage next to her has a male/female pair, and I think she wants to go back in there (even tho it's the guy who hurt her). I'm thinking of getting a male of a species that won't want to breed with her? Maybe a male green singer? Or cordon bleu? Need some thoughts on possible compatible birds. thanks in advance everyone!
4 zebras Crystal, Beau, Bella and Dmitri (the little squeaker), 2 societies Diva and DJ (and their 6 adult kids), and 2 green singers Thor and Regina

If you do not want her to breed, another female zebra would be my choice. I would then put a solid divider between the cages, so the hens cannot see the male in the other cage.
