What order to introduce birds to an new Aviary?

Post by Pukasand » Fri Mar 04, 2011 5:52 pm

I have a pair of Bourkes, Canarys, 1 male, 2 females and the Finches. Which do I put in first? Do I have to wait for them to get situated before I add another species? I plan on doing nail clipping before putting them in.. also, may try to take some close up pictures of each of them in a 'poser cage'. Any suggestions how to put them all in there smoothly and peacefully? #-o

Wow...you have a new aviary you haven't told us about [-X :D [-o<

I would add most close to the same time but start with the least territorial/agressive to the most. That way the more laid back and peaceful finches will get comfortable first, learning where all the hiding places and best perches for them are...then the canaries and the bourkes last.

As soon as the finches are relaxed in their new home add the next...When comfortable, the next. If the space is really large I would think you could put them all in together.

How exciting :D

Thanks, Candy, that's just how I'll do it.
I think by now you have seen the other post of the aviary. I'm going to post pictures of all the birds when I catch them up to put in the new aviary.. that way ya'll can see them. Plus, I don't think I'll be able to get close ups again. I'm getting the hang of posting the pics, now the problem is just getting post-worthy pics.
