Owl finch sexing by call or singing

Post by nemo24 » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:00 am

I have 3 new owls. Is the call... something like meet... meet... meeeow.. all three of them do this. One of them does the meet... meet call at a faster more consective rate(singing)?. Was wondering if the call was something females do also. Thanks

This was just brought up on another thread, and several posters gave links to places that had Owl calls and songs. The male is the only one that sings, both sexes do the call, like a meep, meep. You can also take your birds one at a time, place one in another cage nearby but out of sight of the first cage, the males will usually start to sing (but not always).
