Cleaning of cage

Post by Carpet Man » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:14 pm

Hi,
How often (in the real world) is it recommended to change the paper on the floor of the cages, I have 1 pair of Gouldians per 24" cage, I normally vacuum the bottom of each cage once weekly, as I have now put them all down for breeding I would like advise on the above,

When your birds start laying...forget it and leave them in peace....especially gouldians. If you want to be houseproud then don't take breeding too seriously.

I agree, while breeding use your time for observing, record keeping ,learnig, and note taking instead of cleaning. You can give the cage a good cleaning once the clutch has fledged :D

I clean my cages approx 1x a week, but depending on the birds I can push it out to 2 weeks. Some of my gouldians poop more than others.

I clean the bottom trays once a week, unless of course I notice that a pair has started showing interest in the nest. Then all bets are off, and I let them have their cage to themselves in peace.
