What is the "nest" made of? It looks terrific.

Forgot to ask. What kind of plant is that? Is it real or fake?

I believe the 'plant' is fake - I have many plastic vines just like them. Of course I could be wrong (again). :D

They are fake indeed. I have real plants at the bottom, but all those hanging "vines" are fake. Some are plastic and some are silk, and although it does't show in those pics, I also have several real eucalyptus branches that I replace when they are too dry . They like roosting in those branches at night, and at sunset when they call it a night, sometimes the aviary looks empty! You can hardly see any bird.
My gouldian chicks love nibbling on the leaves, whether fake or real! And they love tearing out the leaves, so by the time the eucalyptus or olive tree branches are dry, most of them have no leaves left!
I don't see adults doing that, nor they use the swing at all, unlike chicks who love it!

Oh! and the "coconut" nest it's made out of two small coconut fiber pot liners sewed together. The hole is scissor-cut
They loved that nest, and did an amazing job with it. They created a sort of curved "tunnel" so you could hardly see the end of it, where eggs/chicks were.

You can see some of the eucalyptus branches in this pic , mixed with other fake vines (this side faces West, and they love sunbathing in the evenings)

I love the calm expressions of your birds with their raised crests... that is one thing I love about gouldians -- they are so relaxed (normally) around people.

So do I annague !
They are all alert the moment I enter the aviary, but once I sit in my little chair for my daily 30 minutes bird-watching, they go back to normal, ignoring me completely as long as I don't stand up or raise an arm or something like that. Juveniles are so funny! and those 30 minutes are enough to see if any of them is not looking right, or if there are "weird" poop or whatever. And of course, that half an hour is a wonderful stress-reliever for me. :P
