mine don't, they have a nice chirp, but the males belt our a song.. I think they are at their best when set-up near a pair of Grey Singers, trying to keep up with a real pro..

I was told when I got my male singer, that he would sing only if a mate was not with him...He sings beautifully!...I don't own any females.

If it is after the second mold, it is a female.
I have a chick from Oct 3. He is a male and molded earlier in his adult colors and sings very well too.

Females of GS could chirp loud. It is better to wait until they are 6 months. Young females and young males sound alike.

So I guess the verdict is wait for another 3 or 4 weeks, and then we should know for sure. #-o

I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer for the final verdict. =D>

Tomorrow I am going to try and record what I call singing  This will more than likely help us find a final verdict. [-o<

If it has molted twice it is a HEN
I am $150% sure.
I have had two month old baby males start to sing because they heard their dad sing.
A juvenile necklace is not as dark, and noticible.
Also the yellow is not as bright as a males.
I have a male from Sept/2010 and his yellow is a nice bright yellow!
You don't have to wait any longer. FEMALE

Below are some examples of my birdss.

I could argue with you, Jerry. Last year I had GS that looked as a female at 5 1/2 months. I was sure it was a female.

Never had a problem with Green Singers.
European Goldfinches, Siberian Goldfinches and Parrot finches always give me greif.
I'm not saying it can't happen but not that one.
