She could also be having a hard time passing an egg. You said you have seen them mating?
She could be eggbound, which would explain why she is sitting in their for so long. Maybe try putting extra calcium supplements in their water or eggfood. Make sure they have a cuttlebone. If you want to, you could catch her and put a drop of liquid calcium on her beak (Make sure it goes into her mouth)....
Who knows though... she may just really enjoy sitting in her nest... maybe it's comfortable.
I always expect the worst with my finches though because I've had a lot die for reasons that could have been prevented.

Sorry, I havent replied in a long time. Today I noticed the first egg. Its a really small egg. Is that normal?. Less than a size of a penny.
I have a cuttle bone in there and she has been eating it too. Also, I give them boiled egg with shell etc.

That is a long time for a Zebra to have a nest and not lay eggs. She may be very young. And yes, it is normal for the eggs to be small, they are very tiny.

hmm...Hopefully she is not too young. From my enquiries (pet store) and estimate, she must be atleast a year old.
And hey! Egg #2 arrived today!
