need some help with lighting.

Post by kylegood » Mon Mar 28, 2011 12:21 am

in my last flight i had 4 4ft t5 highoutput lights.. the flight was 10 ft long. by 2.5 wide.

i just started the lighting in my new flight, which is again 10 ft. x 3ft. and 7 feet high.
i have only set up up two 4ft t5's and it seems perfectly bright

my question is for those of you that keep large artificially lit flights.

how many lights do you use, or would you recommend using for a flight the size of mine...

thank you in advance./

I artificially light because mine are indoors. I would suggest using as much light as it takes so that it resembles a bright sunny day for the birds (but not so much that they feel they are under a spotlight!)

Since you are using flourescent lights I would just make sure you and the birds feel like everything is well lit -- no shadows or dark spots and you can see everything easily.

I'm sure others are more technical but that is all I do and my birds seem to do fine with it.

On an indoor aviary that measures 8' long x 2.5' deep, I have two 4' shoplights, so that is a total of four 4' fluorescent tubes. I use the daylight tubes, and it seems to be OK.
