Janine, they ARE together but there is still a little confusion as to where they are going to nest. I was just pm'ing Misty about it. Sundance and Flame have both been placing nesting material in the SAME nest but they haven't got either girl to go in yet. And, today, it seemed like Sundance was chasing Moonbeam and kind of mean to her when she got close to the nest so I'm not sure if he's frustrated with her or confused or what.

He courts her regularly on his "hoppy" courting branch and sleeps beside her but he acts a little snippy with her at times, too. I'm sure they will figure it all out I just have to be patient. :)

How exciting... gouldian breeding
Sometimes the colony breeding can present some interesting arrangements, hopefully they will figure it all out and give you some beautiful chicks..... and then you will join the gouldian junkies, addicted to those glowing nodules

LOL Candace too true! I can see the junkie in me already looking at those pearly nodules!

Anna best wishes for success in breeding your Gouldians. They sure have coloured out beautifully! Mine too had me completely fooled as to who was breeding and not. A bird I thought had no interest in breeding suprised me with live babies in the nest. Just wait for the noise. My gosh but Gouldians can beg loudly.

I would love to hear it! Right now only the gouldian girls are in the aviary and the boys are caged separately -- I am waiting for them to mature/molt and will be attempting to CAGE breed my gouldians in the fall.

I know some FF people are saying owl chicks are loud too but I have a nest of at least 3 almost ready to fledge and I don't think I've ever heard them -- but then again -- some of my other birds tend to be loud all the time like my PF babies -- who are much younger than the owls but have a very loud 'clinking chain' sound when they are begging!
