sick finch

Post by tetratrax » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:05 pm

My female society has begun sitting at the bottom of the cage all day. She is all fluffed up, and seems very wobbly. Other than that she looks fine. She is eating a little now that I put a lid of food on the bottom of the cage. Does anyone know what is wrong?

I hate welcoming someone in this situation :( , but welcome to the forum. :D

I am leaning on the side of egg binding. Put a heat lamp on one end of her cage so that she can go to the heat if she wants. If you have any liquid calcium, put a drop on her beak and some in her water. I would also put a damp towel around her cage for some humidity.(keeping one side open)
Hope she feels better soon. [-o<

Thank you for the advice! I put her in her own cage because her sons were bugging her a bit. There's been no change so far, but she's been sitting under the lamp. I added the calcium to the water but she hasn't been drinking very much at all.

Egg binding is common and the heat with the calcium should help her....I'm hoping for the best outcome...Fingers crossed she recovers quickly

She's just been sitting under the lamp all day, and has barely touched her food or water. She's still very ruffled but doesn't seem to be breathing as hard. :/
