Begging contest!!!

Post by cindy » Mon Apr 04, 2011 12:40 pm

I think hands down baby owls win the longest to wean and stop begging award...though cute when begging, that little wing in the air, the begging to be fed seems to last longer than zebras and shafties!!! And it is very loud!!!!

My owls hardly make a sound at all?!! (I have 5 fledgling babies) What's up with that? The parents just casually stroll over and the babies open up but with just a small amount of noise?! In fact, I wasn't sure I had any until they were about to fledge and I detected them in the nest... I have weird owls.

My zebras definitely take the cake on loud AND long begging.

Cindy... I was hoping mine were loud because they were my first and I wanted to hear that sound (you know, the sound of a successful and exciting first clutch of some valued species?)

I watched them again today and Mom and Dad hop around this very large aviary cage methodically AND quietly feeding all 5. You can't hear the babies at all -- :?

Will you attach a clip of your baby begging? I'd LOVE to hear it.

I will try to tomorrow...might take some doing but see what I can come up with! The sound is higher pitched than a zebra...if that is possible!
