Air Sac Mites NeemTea- Problems

Post by apachetear » Tue Mar 29, 2011 2:28 pm

I give my finches a neem tea every 3 months for 4 weeks all year. It solved the problem of asm over the summer i had with new finches and it must have worked as ive had no problems since, until i got a new finch infected with asm
Ive done the standard treatment of asm with the tea for a month now, and their health in some of them is declining fast. asm is usually going by now with neem tea (i do a 7 week course if infected to ensure its eradicated).
The only recent change is the use of herbs in their diet, i'm wondering if these herbs have affected it?
Here is a list of the herbs-
Mint, Oregano, Red Clover, Dandelion, Rose Hips, Thyme, Nettle and Garlic
I got them on eBay, here is the link if anyone wants to see-

I'm going to remove the herbs as it occured to me they could be affecting the strength of my neem tea, or am i making stupid assumptions?
And can asm live out of the finches, i drenched the cage in neem tea a while ago in case they could, particularly perches?

Im really upset as my finches mean the absolute world to me and neem tea usually works.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

I would wonder if perhaps the new herbs may have a contradictory effect on the neem tea :?:

Yeah ,they were my first thoughts, problem is i know very little about herbs. It only just clicked it could have affected the tea. Thing is my finches go crazy for the herbs and i'm hoping taking them away doesnt make their health go downhill.

I have no experience with neem tea, but there is a yahoo group that deals with essential oils, teas, etc. You might get some help there, as there is a fair amount of discussion about neem tea.
