Re: Music in the wee hours of the morning!!!
I am not thrilled with spraying him since it is rather chilly and damp in the mornings here...we keep the heat at 68. If this is their nature to sing in the night then I'll have to find way to still enjoy my birds but get some sleep.
I think moving them into their own flight in a room that can be closed off and a timer set to turn their lights on in the room away from the other birds might work best.

This is of course way after the fact and it's entirely possible that the morning singer has stopped (or been squished) but I know some people use sound dampening blankets or panels in apartments with loud birds like conures. Perhaps that is something you could think about.

It's pretty interesting/funny you're goldbreast does that!!!
I have a single male who does the same thing between
5:30-6:00am...the only light at that time is the night
lights that have been on all night.
I wonder why they do it?!?

They no longer do this since daylight saving time!!!!! That fixed his little songfest in the wee hours!!! Well at least until the time changes again in the Fall!!!

My fire finches are driving me crazy doing the same thing. Sometimes at 3-4 in the morning.
They call back and forth to each other. I am considering doing away with the night light....

Re: Music in the wee hours of the morning!!!
I just put up another post about this same exact thing. My Goldbreast is driving my wife crazy at about 4:30-5am...which is not good. I am trying to figure out what to do.

Chase, when he does it try turning the light on...it seems to stop the little bugger for a bit.

When I had my weavers, they would do this too. It was very loud throughout the house, and the sun hadnt even risen! lol
Now that they are gone its the male gouldian who starts singing at like 530 or 6 am!

Re: Music in the wee hours of the morning!!!
I'm really really sorry to say this Cindy but your post made my day! (Please dont slap me
) Its not the fact that he is singing just the way you said it was hilarious. What a cocky little thing to sit way up, look at you then continue to belt it out. I am fortunate enough that my birds dont care what time they get up lol and I would really like some goldbreasts one day (re-thinking that now). I do completely understand where your coming from though and feel for you. My conures used to go off at 4 every morning and wake up the entire house and you would think since I no longer have them that I would get some sleep but now its my kids that are keeping me up every night! I really dont have any suggestions other then possibly covering the cage which was already said. Glad hes stopped though!

Owls, Goulds, European Goldfinch, Red Belly Siskins and Zebs... For now...
