Canary + Gouldian drafts

Post by adnan » Fri Mar 25, 2011 4:14 pm

Hi,

I read somewhere that canaries can tolerate cold to some extent, but not a direct draught.
Kindly tell me if they can tolerate direct warm wind or not?

Temperature in my area is around:-
27 C __ TO __ 38 C (with 0~10 kph wind)
night and day respectively, march through october

Can CANARY and GOULDIAN tolerate wind of 28C+ temperature?
If not, then what is the temperature they can tolerate drafts?

I honestly don't think ANY bird can tolerate any drafts for long periods of time especially cold drafts.

wind at 38ºC is not the same as wind at 15ºC !
Canaries tolerate cold much better than gouldians, but drafts are bad for both of them.Where I live we have very similar temperatures in summer time, and at those temperatures you don't have to worry about wind (unless hurricane-like that might blow the cage away!) as that wind will never be "cold", but you do have to make sure they have plenty of shade and cool water to bathe. They can easily die if exposed to direct sunlight for long periods.
And I think Gouldians tolerate high temperatures better than canaries.

You mention 0/10 kph . That's what I call a light breeze. And at those temperatures they will be more than happy to enjoy the breeze!! :-)
