vitamin water storage
I usually mix Calcium Plus, Hearty Bird and Liquid Iodine in a gallon of water for the water dishes. Should this be refrigerated for storage?

I don't use Hearty Bird but I do refrigerate any extra Calcium and Liquid Iodine mix.

I thought all of that had to be mixed fresh daily?

Re: vitamin water storage
The reason why I'm asking is because I bought Calcium Plus online until the other day when I found it at a store I had traveled to visit and they keep it in a refrigerated section for sale.

Once opened Liquid Calcium should be kept in the refrigerator - I found a note in the box of LC that I had shipped to me from the USA (so much cheaper) that said to store opened containers of LC in the fridge for extended shelf-life.

I probably wouldn't mix that much at one time but if I did, I'd refrigerate and discard after 2-3 days.

Re: vitamin water storage
You mean I should have been storing the MB Liquid Calcium bottle in the fridge all this time? I better go read the bottle again.

The bottle just says store in a cool, dry place - so you don't want to store it on a window sill in direct sunlight, but I think keeping in a kitchen cabinet would be just fine.

I stir Calcium Plu with water well, and refrigerate. The solution is good for 2-3 days when mixed.Initially the solution can be mixed 50/50 with water till the bird gets used to the taste. It helps the bird to regulate it’s body temperature.Ratrodfink wrote:I usually mix Calcium Plus, Hearty Bird and Liquid Iodine in a gallon of water for the water dishes.
