Jerry, they are absolutely spectacular! Like Sally, I love the blues (heh heh).
They are real characters.

Re: Red Cheeked Cordon Bleu
They have been quite active the last few days!
Looks like they have settled in nicely.
The hen has really been vocal lately.
Not really singing but more like calling.
Do hens sing or just do the call?
I have heard the male sing along with my mule.
This morning it looked like he was trying to mount
the hen, but she kind of hovered before she flew off.

My RCCB hen does a long call. Not really singing but much longer than a single note.

Re: Red Cheeked Cordon Bleu
BigBear, my CB hens (both RCCB and BCCB) sing beautifully!! They are not quite as loud as the males but I have one hen that just loves to sing and will sing more often than her mate.

Re: Red Cheeked Cordon Bleu
Thanks everyone,
Well today I saw them kissing and kind of rubbing beaks.
I thought he was feeding her and maybe was.
I have only seen goldfinches do that.
Are they preparing for breeding?

I definitely saw the male feeding the hen this morning and then preen her neck.
Looks good so far.
Fingers crossed for some babies!

Wow, none of my males will feed their hens like that -- you must have a special pair, there!
Good luck on the nesting!
