I have a young (6 month old) salmon headed blue cock that has been fine up until about 10 days ago. I noticed he was puffed up and doing a lot of sleeping. Heard no clicking nor was he breathing with beak open, etc as with ASM. Have had that before and familiar with the symptoms. I went ahead and scatted him under the wing anyhow and moved him to a seperate cage, putting a warming light on him, which he sits under. Gave him 5 days of Tetratex, just in case it was an infection. He is still ill and breathing very heavily (no clicking or open beak breathing) but when he breaths, at times, he makes a tiny little "chirping" sound. I don't know what else to do for him. Also when I first found him ill, I gave him some Miniboost in his water before doing the Tetratex to help give him a little energy, etc. Anyone have any idea what I am looking at here? Thanks for any help.

I don't know what could be ailing your finch. Is Tetratex for viral infections? Perhaps it is bacterial in nature.

I just wanted to say for your signature - the very last "color" needs a [/ at the front of it as in:

[/color] - then we'll all be able to see it in colour.

Thank you for the info on the color in my signature. I edited it a bit ago and must have accidently deleted the fwd slash. lol
On the Tetratex, I have uploaded pics that I took of the bottle, as it is easier that typing all that in.

I also have Frisky Finches Ronsivet 10%.Then I have Frisky Finches Amtyl Avian Antiobiotics (latter is broad spectrum antibiotic for respiratory problems). I may switch to it. It is a combination of Amoxicillin Trihydrate & Tylosin Tartrate for bacterial infections.

After the antibiotics, did you give him probiotics to get his gut flore back up again?

I did give Probiotics for the one day as instructe to add the natural flora back into his gut. We are now doing a 2nd go around on the Antibiotics.
