One of my society snores when it sleeps.

Just wondering if I should be concern about this. One of my society is snoring alot when it sleeps. The snoring is quite loud to the point where it's freaking my girlfriend out.

I haven't ever heard of that, but it made me think of air sac mites. You might want to check to see if that is the issue.

To be honest it sounds like a regular person snoring and it can only be heard when the birds are resting at night

It's pretty hard trying to pin point which bird it's coming from though

The only time I've heard something similar it did turn out to be air sac mites. That was a gould, though, which makes a lot more sense than a society. Do any of the birds appear lethargic or fluffed? Wonder if it could be another type of respiratory problem, and you only hear it at night because it's so quiet......

This is a bit OT...but I was wondering if the air sac mites is only found in Gouldians/Canaries? I never read anyone had it with other species.

I got warnings to treat my newly-imported waxbills for air sac mites.
