Silver/fawn female zebras
Re: Silver/fawn female zebras
That is a picture of our DC female zebra finch. It looks different from Cindy's two (in particular the tail). But mayby it's normal that every DC can look different;)

Re: Silver/fawn female zebras
The pair that produced the silvers, which molted and remained silve, the tails missing black bars having light silver have given me yet more of a variety. Not only is there a nother silver, but a fawn and a Florida fancy fawn Isabel female (missing the tear), a normal split to fawn and a normal female.
The Isabel female they produced looks identical to the female fawn Isabel my FF female and Floirda silver produce, they also produce Fsilvers and FF.
The silvers that are produced with the silver and white barring on the tail like a Florida silver, all silvers are born with a horn colored beak. I cage breed pairs separately...my Florida fancy and FSilver came from a different breeder...my other pair that produced a variety of young came from a forum memember John in Louisianna...he to is getting FF young out of his stock. he sent me a picture to ID this week...I stand corrected.

I don't know where the FF came from. I did not have any in my stock until a pair recently threw out a male. Here is a few pics. I paired him off with this exquisite female and am waiting for them to breed. Can't wait to see what I get. As Cindy stated Zebras are full of surprises.cindy wrote:The pair that produced the silvers, which molted and remained silve, the tails missing black bars having light silver have given me yet more of a variety. Ah yes, the famous hidden splits
Zeebs are notorious for that. Even when you know a bird's heritage for a number of generations, they still can pull a fast one on you like that. It's happened to us so many times that we've given up guessing. Just put couples together and see what you get. More fun that way, kinda makes it like Christmas morning
