Re: Pictures you are proud off!!
Toby~Sure you can have my eagle photo. I'm flattered. Across the water from us is Blake island where they nest. Only way on the island is by boat. In the summer when they are busy trying to find anything to feed their growing chicks they roost in the trees behind our house so they can keep an eye out for fish or whatever they can carry off. I spotted this adult one day and grabbed my camera and sat with my back against the garage door for about a 1/2 hour or more before he flew. He had been keeping an eye on me watching him. when he flew he flew right over me! I was lucky. Until you see one close up you can't imagine how huge they are! Last year crows nested in a tree next to our house. One day we heard a terrible commotion. The adult bald eagle had crashed into the crows nest and stole all the baby crows to feed his family! That bald eagle was enormous! Easily over 6 ft. wing span and only a few yards away from us. I didn't get a photo. All I could do was stand and watch with my mouth open. The crows built another nest in a tree down the road and raised their family there.
DF~ Those babies are barn swallows. I LOVE the swallows! they nested under our back porch for 3 years straight. Had the sweetest little babies, made a horrible mess but I didn't care. It was worth it to see them so close. They are graceful, sweet and beautiful birds. Then after 3 years they disappeared and never came back. I just love the photo of Mario. You wouldn't think birds would have such expressive faces would you? But I love the look on his face in that photo! Adorable!
I've sure been enjoying everyone's photos!!!
Domenic~ the chick and the finch in your hand is so cute! Wonderful pictures everyone!

This is one of my favorites, really nothing special except that it's a really great pic of the red-head finch.

Wow! These are all so great! What an awesome thread!
Here are my contributions:
Double-crested Cormorant, taken off the southern coast of Maine

Juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk, Boston

Though I cannot take credit for that one (my boyfriend took the pic), it was quite an experience. As we were sight-seeing, we came upon this guy in a cemetery, and got to watch him stalk and capture his unsuspecting prey, before flying off with it clutched in a talon.

Nothing really spectacular about this one, I just love these guys, who visit my birdfeeder all day long and chitter chatter back and forth with my birds.

Oh, and I forgot this one:

This is the one and only whole-family picture I got before we lost Walter, the middle of the three chicks. For that reason, it is probably one of my favorite pictures of all time.

This is such a fun thread...I am enjoying seeing all the great photos everybody is sharing.
I just found one more to share....it is one of a Sun Conure I owned a few years ago. He was playing on his boing perch and let one of his feet go and was just hanging there like you see in the photo....I was lucky enough to get the shot before he changed position....he was such a clown...I miss him but Hubby was not happy with his "loudness" so I had to rehome him.

That pic of the Hawk is amazing. Great shot and timing.
Here is one I can share. Proud of pic and act.
We were filling up at a gas station and I heard this thump. A little shrike fledgling had flown into the glass of the shop. Anyhow I jumped out, revived it and once it showed good movement etc (near an hour later) we released it back in the field next door to the station amidst the local onlookers who must have thought we were crazy.
