New and Improved Cage

Post by JRs Gouldians » Sun May 08, 2011 4:08 pm

Hey guys. Well I finally got around to turning 2 cages into 1 flight cage just thought I'd share a few pics of it.

The cage dimensions are now 60inX18inx18in. Water on one side of the cage and food on the other. Got the Idea from Cindy (thanks again for posting your pictures on another members topic. This is cage one of two that I plan on making. The next one will be half black and half white, which I'm not thrilled about but I don't think the birds will mind as long as they get to fly more.

Very very nice! :) I wish I was more savvy with my hands. I have those cages as well but would have no clue how to combine them to make a flight cage. I can't wait to see the birds in their new and improved home. ;)
God is my redeemer and it is through Him I have found eternal happiness. I am grateful, I am blessed, and I am truly loved. I wish all this and more for all members of our finch forum family. May you all be blessed and highly favored. <3

Jr...I have done this to 18 high and 36 high for bigger birds and owls...they love the space. Post a picture when you fill it!!!!

I am going to take two 36 high cages and remove the backs to use in a space that will not fit the 5 ft length.

Don't you love a little DIY projects!!!

It's a lot easier then you think. A pair of needle nose pliers, some zip ties, and your pretty much set. You never know how savvy you are with your hands until you give it a go.

Man I would love to have the space you do Cindy! My dad is about to kill me with the 10 cages I have set up now. Can't wait till I move up to Maine and I'll be able to build my own aviary.

I am planning on eventually using one of the spare rooms as a bird room but it won't be for a while yet. I have to wait for the last chickadee to leave the nest first!!!

Made the second long flight cage today. Now everyone is settled and outside. Like I said before the second flight consisted of a black and white cage which I'm not thrilled about but hey now they have more room to fly. Here are the much awaited pics.

The two flights one atop the other, and then two 24' cages on top with societies (one cage with 3 goulds in the nest, and 3 with 5 eggs in the nest.)

Again the stacks of cages.

Females in their flight plus one female canary for my mom.

And the boys in their flight.
