Awesome suggestion Nelissa! We have wet erase pens here so I'll use it on the plexi. Thanks!

Oh, heck I guess I didn't post photos with the family in their new home. #-o They really do love it and have lots of room to fly! There is only one perch on each side (top) so they spend most of their day flying back and forth. Thanks everyone for the compliments and feed back! These aren't the best photos but you can see where I put it there is a window above and also the 4ft. double shop light with natural daylight bulbs.

These aren't the best photos but for some reason I was having a problem with my exposure. I think it had to do with the W. facing window with sunshine and the shop light at the same time. Oh well, you can get a pretty good idea how it's set up. It turned out really great but next cage will have stacked doors on the ends. When we drew up plans for this one I wasn't thinking about maybe needing more than one hand inside the cage. #-o Duh... So if I have to do anything inside that uses two hands and two arms, I'm sc*ewed. :D  Live and learn. :D

Looks wonderful!
When I made mine I made a door on top of a door. Most daily chores only require me to open the bottom door but when I need to get in there I open both. The doors are big enough so I can fit my shoulders in so I can reach and get to whatever I need to.
best of luck!

Thanks Janine and Debbie! We are happy with the outcome. We put white board over thin plywood for the floor then sealed the edges with bathroom calking. No seeds can get in or under it and the white board is super easy to clean. I still put butcher paper over it because we have a huge roll saved from so many years ago I can't even remember why we got it in the first place  . When that finally runs out I will try a different substrate like aspen chips. Yea, the double doors 'would' have been a good idea. The  part is my husband suggested it and I said "no no, I don't think I'll need it".

I forgot to say I LOVE the plexiglass windows the most! it's just like looking at them without a barrier. The big bonus is seeds stay inside! and when they take a bath and splash water on the plexi, I just wipe them down with crumpled news paper (those of you that clean their windows with vinegar and water know what I'm talking about) and they wipe clean without the vinegar! Easy! The seeds really do stay inside the enclosure! I'm very happy about that!

What a perfect new home your birdies have! Those are some really good looking societies, they look right at home already. Great job! Wanna come build me one? hehe
