Bulk Finch food
I'm not sure what to look for in Finch food. I usually buy the small packages at the Pet Smart, but wonder if there is a better way. I do pick up the bulk Millet at the Bird Mart in Ft Worth (thank you Sally). They do love that.
I had a bad experience with moths when I ordered some samples (they are still around).
Found this on the Bay and wonder what ya'll think.
Ingredients: German Millet, White Proso Millet, Red Proso Millet, Canary Grass Seed, Canola Seed, Flax Seed and Nyjer Seed.
Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (min.)...........11.0%
Crude Fat (min.).................3.0%
Crude Fiber (min.)..............7.0%
Moisture (max.).................12.0%
Anything missing from that blend?

Re: Bulk Finch food
I'm in the same predicament now. The major feed store in our area, which had been in business for almost 40 years, went bankrupt and closed all their stores while I was on vacation last month. I wish I had known sooner so that I could have stocked up on bulk food but supposedly the employees didn't even know untill the day of the 7 stores being closed. I'm looking at ABBA, Herman Brothers, Bulk Bird Food, and For Your Bird. If anyone knows of any other companies that have reasonable shipping for bulk finch food to the East Coast, please share your sources. This gosh darn economy is killing family businesses and hurting Americans in the process.

God is my redeemer and it is through Him I have found eternal happiness. I am grateful, I am blessed, and I am truly loved. I wish all this and more for all members of our finch forum family. May you all be blessed and highly favored.

disclaimer: I cannot verify anything I'm about to tell you, but it comes from a good and trusted source.
I've been referred to Hagen for bulk seed. Haven't found their website yet.

Re: Bulk Finch food
Thank you both. I'm familiar with Hagen (French Canadian brand) and have used their finch mixes before -- in smaller numbers 3lb bags. How do you order from them direct? I went on the website that Sally provided and they don't list prices or ordering forms. I tried the "Dealer Locator" and I'm coming up with only Petco locations for my area -- not helpful at all, as Petco does not carry bulk food for birds. Has anyone ordered directly from Hagen? And are shipping prices reasonable? Thanks so much!
