I was cleaning out the cage today and my female finch flew out. After flying around the house for about 5 minutes, she seemed to settle down. I went to go towards her and she took off, and flew right into the window. It knocked her to the ground so was able to grab her and put her back into the cage.
She seems a little quiet now, but she can walk as she has jumped from perch to perch. A bit concerned about her overall wellbeing though.
Anything I should be doing right now????????? I'm kinda worried.

Re: Oh No?
I have had mine to do this from time to time in my walk in aviary.
If she is eating and moving around I would not worry too much.
Sometimes it really stuns them and take a while to regroup.
Hope all goes well... keep us posted.

Re: Oh No?
that has happened to me once or twice in the past, and after a few minutes in "shock" they recovered quickly.
Last week, as I was on my way to work, I pulled over because I saw a sparrow in the middle of the road. I held it in my hand and could see no blood, no broken wings, no nothing, it wasn't moving at all but I could see it was not dead. I placed it on the seat next to me, covered with a light jacket I was wearing and waited. It was at least 5 minutes later when the jacket "moved", so I slowly lifted it and off it went ! He flew away through the open window
I don't know whether he was hit by a car or what, but it surely was in that sort of "shock" state. I guess they are stronger than we think

Re: Oh No?
They can injure themselves flying into a window.
She seems OK now, but keep an eye on her, she might have internal head injury.
This is also a problem in the big world out there. I have seen large plate glass windows with painted lines on them. This was to give the birds some visual indication that something is there. Otherwise they would fly right into the window thinking there isn't anything to stop them.
