Hand Rearing a ?

Post by JohnBoy » Fri Jun 03, 2011 11:18 am

Found this baby bird on the floor of my aviary this morning. I am thinking because it is so tiny and feathering out that it is probably a goldbreast waxbill but not 100% sure. It's crop was full and it is accepting food from me so I don't think it will be a problem to raise it. Any opinions out there?

What makes you say that? I do have a pair of RCCB's in the aviary.

Crazy color on the edge of the beak! Reminded me of the Grenadier babies that Misty had :)

It is a RCCB. I see faint powder blue feathers coming out. I hope there are more in a nest somewhere. I don't go peeking so I really won't know unless I see some fledglings.
Are the blue pearls a giveaway?
