I looked at them this morning and I thought the seed tray was a bit too small. I pictured the birds making a total mess with them. I passed. Glad they are working out for you all.

John, so far in individual cages (one pair to a cage) it has worked out fine but in my bigger baby flights I use the hut type since the mountable ones will not allow for more than 2 to 3 birds at a time.

Thank you for sharing those. Think they might be useful in the aviary i'm still trying to build.

Bill what is nice is the bottom slides out from the top or you can add seed through an openeing in the back.

I don't have that one, but I did get a version of it and hung them in my aviary. I made a little tray to catch seeds and it works great!

Thanks for sharing about that neat feeder! I think I will see if I can find them at my Walmart.

Those square seed hoppers are nice but I dislike the flat tops. Do the finches stay off the tops of these feeders being they are a bit rounded?

And I like that nice 70's retro avocado green color. 8)

Donna, I bought a few of those in green for the cages with mulitple birds and my shaftails. Mt shafties eat out of just about anything.

The wall mount one has a slick top, they land on it but not so long, the same with the small one like Donna has pictured. The larger ones with like a shingle pattern in the roof design allows the birds to roost...and poop on the top!

That's what I like about them too. The birds try to roost on top but they just slip off. Sweet. So far they have been everything I needed. I really do like them a lot! There isn't even any poop on the perch.

Trish I find less seed/waste on the floor of the cage and the finches have to bend down to get the seed/pellets and back up a bit to eat, they don't eat over the little tray. So far so good, I am going to try one in the owl flight, see how they do with it.

Well I purchased 2 of the Walmart feeders (they only had 4 in stock) and they seem to be working pretty well once the finches stopped being terrified of them.

Here is my review....... 8)

Walmart Feeder:

What I like:

The birds can't sit on top and there is no pooping and sleeping in the feeder like the seed hoppers.

I was able to remove the suction cup and replace it with a simple "S" hook which allows me to quickly move the feeder around or take it out without having to untie anything.

They hold a lot more than my seed hoppers.

They cost a lot less than the seed hoppers.

What I don't like:

I am noticing my Owl finches do seem to rake through the seed and I can hear and see it falling to the floor...not a lot though since I only have 2 Owls. The societies don't seem to rake the seed that I can tell.

That avocado green color. [-(

The Seed Hoppers

What I like:

They have the seed catcher tray to keep the chaff off of the floor.

They are smaller and fit in more places in my flight cage.

What I Don't Like:

The birds use the flat top for a bed/potty and dance floor. I always hear them tapping and slip-sliding off the hoppers during the night. ](*,)

I have to clean the seed hoppers more frequently.

The are not overly pricey but cost more than the Walmart feeders and you have to order them.

So I don't know yet which ones I like better.....somebody hurry up and invent a better bird feeder and for Heaven's sake make them ANY other color than avocado!

the sunny yellow would have nice!!!!!

I find they are working out nicely in all my cages and flights...very please. The green does no bother me so much, I have green accnts in the house and since I use silk plants and flowers, it blends in ok.

Snapped some pics of mine... this one is not avocado green... I ordered mine years ago and don't remember from where... They also have a thermometer on the backside....

and the green one... I use these with small footed waxbills... I find they don't work well with the bigger finches. These are in the main goldbreast aviary

The seed hopper tops are a spot for roosting and the owls like to tap on it with their beaks...they need to make them slanted..they get to ditry.
