So sorry for your loss

Although this may not help with the loss, take comfort in the fact that during his last days he found your love and care [-o<

I am so sorry for your loss :(

But I think Elvis was a girl?
In the video, I saw no breast bars or flanks..
And I think Elvis might have been egg bound,
because he (or she) had trouble pooping,
and the egg was blocking the vent
thats why the poop was so big?
(Just a thought...)

Sorry I cannot explain it better :)

So sincerely sorry for the loss. I know how much you wanted a black cheeked zebra. :( Have peace in your heart knowing that you did all that you could and that Elvis died a happy bird, being in your loving care. I'm sure the cutie is smiling at you from the Rainbow Bridge.
God is my redeemer and it is through Him I have found eternal happiness. I am grateful, I am blessed, and I am truly loved. I wish all this and more for all members of our finch forum family. May you all be blessed and highly favored. <3

It's definitely possible that it was a girl! I'd forgotten that females can have black cheeks too. The only thing is, if it was a girl, she was sooooo soooo skinny. If there was an egg in there, I don't know where she was hiding it. After it had passed away, it was even more obvious that the bird was waaay too small. Not to be morbid, but the bird's feathers were disheveled after it had passed, and the skin was showing through here and there. The poor little thing was teeny tiny.

It's been all I can do not to e-mail that woman back and tell her what happened. I'd SO like to tell her a thing or two!

Oh no, definitely don't do that. Judging from the fact that they thought it was perfectly normal to allow those birds to live in those conditions, they probably will not listen nor appreciate your feedback. Let karma deal with those folks and have peace in your heart and mind knowing that you were a super mom during the few days you had Elvis in your home. Some people are simply not meant to have pets (or kids). God bless you and your husband for doing all that you could. :)

Oh, I won't actually DO it, but it's sure tempting! ;) I doubt it would do any good anyway, to be honest. They seemed to be the type that think pets are disposable. I'm sure they'd say "It's JUST a bird!" [-X

Thanks for your comments. :) DH and I don't have kids, so my critters are my "children". They're all spoiled rotten. :D
