I will try and get a picture of him from behind.
You could be right, he could be a single factor yellow?
He isn't as yellow as my other male.
But he is younger too.

I tried to get some photos of the back of the bird
But he always faces towards me.
I put the cages side by side and the yellow on the back is exact.
So he is a double yellow, its the camera flash that changes the colour.

#-o Of course he is DF because since he is purple breasted... he would be a grey headed dilute if sf #-o I wasn't even considering the breast color... just saw lots of green and blue, was just the shading of the camera... I tell you, seems I am half seeing things lately... not seeing long tail wires, breast colors... even was handfeeding what I thought were yellows and they are silvers.... I guess too many late night feedings, early morning feedings and lots of work in between....

Sorry for any confusion Jerry.... I am going to look twice before typing from now on :D

Not a problem! No worries! No harm, no foul! =D>
When I first saw him, I wasn't positive either. #-o
I think it will just get harder, as there will be more variations
and shades in the future.
Well that's what makes it fun and interesting and this site going!

I've had a SFY with a purple breast that was very yellow. He had the blue around the back of his head. His father was a OH/WB/SFY and his mother was a OH/PB/NB. There are dilutes that are very yellow.

Here is a picture of his back.
He is a double yellow.
He has been sitting in the nest box
calling the hen to come in.

Very excited for you! They're both very beautiful and it sounds like it's a good match if they are already checking out the nest box! Fingers crossed for some lovely eggs and babies soon!
