Ouch, a gallon is a LOT to have premixed.

Someone (I forget who) said it is OK to mix up a batch. So I do. It is easier to mix a larger volume than a "tiny" 1oz volume.
I only mix up enough at 4x strength (of the 6% powder) to take me thru the 7 day treatment. In computing the amount to mix, I take into consideration the reduction in strength down to 2x for days 4-7.
Then I keep the unused solution in the fridge.
Days 1-3: I pour out the 1oz I need.
Days 4-7: I pour out 1/2 oz and add 1/2 oz filtered water to bring it up to 1oz. This dilutes it down to 2x strength.

I want a mix of 1/8g into 30ml of water

1 spoon = 1 gram
divide the pile in 4 = 1/4 g per divided pile
divide the 1/4 g pile in 2 = 1/8 g per divided pile

I just thought of something.
Use a reloading powder scale. These scales measure in grains.
1 oz = 435 grains
1 gram = 15.43 grains
1/8 gram = 1.9 grains

Here are some lower cost scales

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=438260
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=713372

There are more expensive digital scales
http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseP ... 731***9211***

I just found one that is a bit more expensive but reads in grams, so you don't have to convert to grains.

I plan to order one, but it won't arrive till I'm done needing it. But I will have it around for the next time.
What about using baking measuring spoons? I have some that go down as small as a pinch, which is half of a quarter tsp. measurement. My math is not the best, so I am guessing, but that would make measuring a little easier.?

A "pinch" ????
That would be great, I've never seen a measuring spoon that small.
I always have problems with "a pinch".
What is a pinch? Whos finger? I really don't want to stick my fingers into the various medications and suppliments. etc. etc.

Now I have to go look for a pinch spoon.

Debbie,
Those the exact measuring spoons I use. So funny. They work great for those small measuring tasks.

What does this product treat?

Ronivet-s
This medication is used to treat flagellate protozoa such as Trichomoniasis (canker), Cochlosoma and Giardia in cage and aviary birds.
Ronivet-S is considered to be the safest medication for use in birds - it does not cause nerve damage!

I have personally never used it nor do I believe in routinely medicating my birds.

debbie276....I see many people here use it as cure all

When ever a bird seems ill....puffed up...just use ronivet

Should people be using ronivet without knowing the cause of illness?
