My gouldians have only played with nesting material, never added any to the nest.

I'm afraid to give them anymore,
they won't have room for the eggs if I do! [-X

I have some that just build the basic cover the floor nest and others that wrap the material up and over the top of the box. :D

Congratulations!!!!

My male is quite the builder as well and he is still trying to put more in even though she has started incubating. I took all the additional nesting material out but he is still finding little bits and pieces from here and there. Relentless lil booger. When he first started looking for material I zip tied a huge handful of coconut fiber to the side of the cage and when I got home it was all in the nest. Repeated the next day and same thing. So, their version of Rome was built in two days. He still dabbles but I think it's from boredom now that she has evicted him from the nest. He's very proud of his (hopefully) soon-to-be family.

Our Goulds should only be a week and a half off from one another when they hatch. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and please do the same for me.

Yes of course, fingers crossed that you have plenty of babies and the parents are good feeders!!! [-o<

I may go and pick up another pair tonight from the friend I got this pair from.
Also may go and visit another one of his friends, who has goulds also and see if we can strike a deal.
I think four pairs will be enough for now. Yah right, who am kidding!!
It's an addiction!!! I'm laughing all the way to the funny farm, but I am having fun doing it!!

I am going to be doing the same thing!!Unfortunately, I do not know of anyone in my area but I was going to make a post when I am ready as I have noticed that their are a few individuals that are within an hour or two from me. I would like to have 5 pairs as well. Once we get there, I have a feeling we'll be moving to a different breed or looking for some more pairs.

Even though I am new to this, I found myself laying in bed last night plotting the best spot for an aviary. The finches GOT ME!!

Awesome colorings and congrats!! I want more birds too!! I have been browsing the web for breeders close to me but everyone is in South Florida, the Panhandle, or out of the state altogether. I am not really set up for more at the moment....but I could be. :D

I was just discussing this with my Husband and said "But we already have birds" and I had to explain that there are different colors and he could even get one, or a pair (yeah, I snuck that in there), that had an orange head so it will be a University of Florida "fanatic finch". You have to give me some KUDOS for that kind of pathetic creativity. LMAO If you know anything about football or UF alumni, you know that tend to be elitist, thus my Hubby, and everything has to be orange and blue or have a gator on it. ](*,) ](*,)
