The above is an example of what I see when I am in the Species Forum - the "New posts" is coloured beige on my screen and the "No new posts" is just white. So it appears to be working for me at least.

Anyone else not see the different colours (in the circles) on the left side of the screen before the individual specie sub-forums?
Do you have a personal email I can send screen shots to? Maybe that will be more helpful :/

I see the color distinguished on the main page - it's when I click into, say, Gouldian Finches, that the topics displayed don't have color coded changes to tell me which topic was updated..

To be honest, I was not sure I would like it, but mow that it's done, I do. It doesn't really change how I use the forum (I usually browse via "View active topics" or "View new posts"). So this hasn't changed for me. And I DO like that I can now narrow it down by species, if I want to.
I am correctly seeing the colors, both on the main species page, and the individual species pages.

I have to agree with you. And I find myself missing a lot of other posts. Its just too much to keep track of.

Can you explain in more detail John, why you are missing a lot of other posts and in what way is it too much to keep track of. Obviously I am missing something here as I don't have see what there is to keep track of... ?

I just find it to be too many categories to surf through. For a while I was completely forgetting the main species section. I really think it would be better to have the individual species category section following the main (original) species section rather than the way it is now. Just my opinion.
I am sure if it stays the way it is I will get used to it as will everyone else. But it is overwhelming. I really liked the way it was before much better.

Well try to work with it as it is for the next month John. If you get used to it, you may find it more useful having the individual species separated. I noticed you are posting in the individual and correct sub-forums already. =D>

We'll take a vote at the end of that time and everyone can and should take part to see if the forum stays with the sub-forums or if they should all be lumped into one main forum again.

Liz, after all that work.... I say leave it. :D
It is very educational... one thing that you could do is put this sub forum into it's own heading. For instance. Have the 'Species" then under that have A new heading that is titled " Species Classifications".

Then those not wanting to see it can easily go to the old "Species" and not be bothered. But I bet they won't be able to help themselves and will go to the " Species Classification" forum
I think once someone gets bitten by a certain species they will automatically gravitate to anything that has to do with their new found love.... I know I do.

I too would like to see SPECIES and then all the sub-forums beneath but I cannot find how to move "Species". Be patient with me/us. We'll figure it out eventually.

Alright here are the screen shots - I did notice that although when I click in none of them are colored, they do "wiggle" - but not all of them wiggle that have had most recent posts? It's weird, for sure..

Species section which shows activity in LG board

This is what I see when I click into the LG board - none of the topics are "highlighted" - I have to look at the date to see which ones are recent..

I wonder if you might have to clear your "cookie" cache. I don't know why you'd have to but it's all I can think of at the moment...

I don't think it makes a difference because I don't have this problem with any of the other topics - it only happens in the species subfolders and the events subfolder.. :/

The more I use the new sub-forum the more I hate it. Sorry but that is how I feel. I even dread going to the species section now.

Thanks for the general feedback John - it's always appreciated. If you could specify WHY you hate and dread going to the Species section. What is it exactly that is bothering you? That may help us determine what exactly (if anything) we might able to do to help you out... For instance, is it difficult for you to see the common names (after the scientific names)? Or do you perhaps not like the alphabetical order they are in? Or do you not like that the general Species forum is under the individual species? We want to help you, John.

Most other members seem to be okay with the new layout. =D> Or they are just not saying anything until we hold the voting poll in the third week of August. #-o
