 Wow, Dave. Just catching up on posts -- I've been off a few days -- super busy.

I don't know if you've named your hen or not but I think you should give her the name of an actress because she sure is a Drama Queen!

I am so glad to hear she's doing better and on her way back to normal. (I hear you on that vet bill -- I've gone 3 separate times to an avian specialist and chalked up over $1000.00) But, as you say, knowing your pet is ok is priceless!

I am also guessing that you are now seeing the new, improved personality of a hen who is maturing and has fully realized she DOES have a place to nest when things come together for her and her mate.

I hope you had great fun on your vacation -- and don't worry too much about the potential bacteria infection -- birds have ways of getting things no matter what you do to prevent it. (The little stinkers.)

Do you have your 'medicine chest' ready to go for future illness or treatment? Tiffany is probaby one of the best experienced people on the forum with regards to diseases, diagnosis, etc. esp. with Gouldians and it could save you some big $$$ down the road.
Anna

Lots of Red Throat Parrot Finches, Forbes, Gouldians, BCCB's, RCCB's, Owls, Societies, and BB Fires. Plus, one wonderful 15 year old son, one wonderful husband and two rotten-to-the-core Border Terriers.

Actually, yes....and interestingly enough, she IS named after the most famous red-headed actress in U.S. television history -- Lucy. Maybe I should have instead named her after a mime, rather than an actress.

Thanks for the tip, Anna -- good to remember. Yes, I do have a fairly fully-stocked medicine cabinet for the birds, though was reluctant to use anything without knowing they actually had an infection. And you're absolutely right, I do place tremendous value on Tiffany's guidance and expertise....I'd be lost without her! I try not to over-rely on her, however, at least to the extent possible. I may be a lot of things, but a nuisance isn't one of them, I hope.

Currently the parent of 4 Gouldian males: 1 RH PB Normal, 1 RH WB Normal, 1 BH PB Normal and a YH LB BB. Have kept Gouldians since Oct. 2010 and raised 3 chicks with a former pairing of the RH PB GB I still have and a hen that I later traded (pair seen in avatar).

While my inclination is to back into a corner, because I really think I'm a fledgling in comparison to most other people.. I'm still flattered by the compliment :)
