gouldian girl

Post by farmgirl » Sat Jul 30, 2011 7:35 pm

I LOVE this forum, anytime I ask a question I know there are people out there that will know the answer!

I had a clutch hatch 3 months ago and one of the little girls (I think :-k ) had started to moult into adult colors already, none of the others (6 total) are. I thought they didn't moult until 6 months, is this normal?

Also, is she an OH? if she is that would make mommy (BH/PB/GB) and Daddy (RH/PB/GB) both split for orange then right? Thanks!

Gouldians do start their molt as early as 2 months.
She is definitely a orange head making the parents split. The one in the second photo on the little stick perch is also an orange head, It looks like it will be a male.

I am seeing an orange tipped beak on the hen =D> but the males beak looks red to me.

Agree with Janine, I only see the female as being OH :)

How exciting! Thank you! I was hoping one day to be able to get the full spectrum of colors, the last thing I was expecting was to get a color I didn't have yet by breeding!!! \:D/
