Society molting or...?

Post by Kyorochan » Thu Aug 04, 2011 4:18 pm

I woke to find that my Society has lots of missing feather in the tail area. Can see lots of the skin. It looks pretty bad. I have not seen her peck or scratch at it while I have been watching her. Could she be molting or sick? I am really worried. She is also still missing feather on her head and it has been a few weeks.

Here are some picture of the tail. Sorry I couldn't get better shots. Looks worse irl.

No, she is in the cage alone.

Idk what to do. Now she is bald along part of her back leading up from her tail/the part where her wings cover.

Could she be picking her own feathers because she is alone? I think societies like to be with other birds. Another thought would be mites. Might try some s76.
Just a couple of ideas,
