Possible fawn BB fledgling

Post by cindy » Wed Aug 03, 2011 11:44 am

The clarity of the picture of the bird is a bit fuzzy but the black markings in the chest are slightly visable from the top of the white under the neck to the center so I was wondering is this a BB fawn?

The picture of the tail on the boy looks kind of like the one in the fledling's tail on efinch

We were surprised to find a recent BB in our flock. Which apparently came from our very first Zebra, Rhett, whom we brought home over 6 years ago. Never even thought to look prior to the discovery, but what gave it away to us was the white area between the eye and the tear drop. That coupled with the larger than normal breast bar made us check on efinch, thus confirming our pleasant surprise.

Can't really tell, but aren't BB usually with no bar marks on their tails? Or does that not happen until they molt?

But from pictures I have seen of Vargur's fledgelings that are BB, they always kind of remind me of penguins and have no tearmarks.

No all of the young have fledged yet but maybe these are split then.
