BloodWorms and finches ???

I have never heard of bloodworms for finches...only for betas. If they are freeze dried, then the finches may not eat them anyway.

YES! My Waxbills - Cuban Finches in particular LOVE these freeze dried bloodworms. Quite a few people on here give them to their finches. I sprinkle some on top of the eggfood when they are breeding. It works as more protein and instead of live mealworms.

I just find it much too expensive to give on a regular basis.

I just bought a small container to try and my fire finches seem to like it. At least it is gone when I look into the dish.
I moistened it with a little water first.
Do you give it to them dry? That would be a lot easier and it will last, if they don't eat it quickly.

Gary, I found when I offered a dish of the freeze-dried bloodworms, they are so light that they blew all over the cage bottom. So now I mix them in lightly with my eggfood, which holds them down. Or they could be mixed in with sprouted seeds--anything to hold them down, or they get wasted.

I put just a little of the soaked and reconstituted worms in with the egg and it seem that they are eating the worms first. That also seems to get them to eat more of the eggs.

My fire finches just laid an egg this morning, after MONTHS of doing nothing. The only change was that I started to give them the blood worms. So it must have been the worms that got them to mate.
