Hurt gouldian! Bloody eye...
I just went in to do my daily water change before the birds are all ready for the night and found one of my male Gouldians eye all bloody....he is in with all my males in an all male flight....I will try to get a picture of him in the morning but I thought I would get any advice on how to take care of his wound....I have moved him into a small cage with a heat lamp he has access to....I washed the blood on his head off with a Q-tip and put some antibiotic ointment on his eye...I have Morning Bird medications and supplements and wondered what I should give him?...he seems to be rubbing his eye on the perch but does seem quite calm...Any help would be appreciated!

Shame, its always heartsore to find things like this.
Is his eye damaged? Did you find a laceration or puncture wound?

I didn't find a specific wound around the eye, and the eye is not punctured....I thought that there may be some damage on the side of his beak, the edge looks a little rough....The tissue around the eye is very swollen, but he is opening the eye this morning....He is wiping the side of his head on the perch and scratching at it....I will try to get a picture this morning

These are the best I could do this morning....He does have his eye open this morning and is eating some seed...Is there anything else I should give him?

Re: Hurt gouldian! Bloody eye...
I would put some Terramycin eye ointment on the area and/or Quick Gel on the beak. My Spice finche looked like she had a crack on her beak; we put the Quick Gel on the beak and it cleared up over night. The eye antibiotic ointment I used on my BW when it had an eye swollen and irritated. The eye recovered in a few days. I always put injured or sick birds in a hospital cage with heat and Thrive or Vitalize in the water, unless I am medicating for something specific. I hope he gets better soon.

OH MY GOSH! Poor baby! It looks terribly painful! I hope you are able to get the meds he needs and in a few days he will be better. Do you think the males were chasing each other and this one crashed into something in the cage? Hurts to look at the picture
Get well soon little guy!

I suspect that he must have been chased and run into something??...I have noticed a few chases in the all male cage....He looks better today, but looks so sore....
....I have given him some soft food with Thrive on it....He is resting in his own little cage with heat
