White Zebra Finch
I have a white zebra finch hen. Who used to be all white, no tear marks, but now, after a molt of some sort, she has.. black cheeks? They're quite faint, but definatly there. Could she have some black cheek in her? It looks really weird...for a finch with no other markings to have black cheeks, lol x3
What do you think?

Is there any way you could post a photo? It would probably be much easier to let you know what mutation it might be. Sounds beautiful!

Can't get a good pic right now...She's sitting in the nest on her 3 little eggs~ Quite dark in there.
But she did come from breeder who bred both white and black cheeks in the same cage d:

I'm not an expert but I thought black cheeks were the only Zebra hens that had cheek patches. Is that right? She must be lovely and congrats on the eggs!

Re: White Zebra Finch
there is also a grey cheek and fawn cheek.
both sexes have color in the cheeks.
are there no faint markings on her tail?
she could also be pied white,
because you cannot combine a true white bird
with other mutations,
because the offsprings will allways be white.

Re: White Zebra Finch
Does your finch look like this Black cheek CCFW? Female is on the right, chick is in the food dish...the black head molts to white with black cheeks.

Re: White Zebra Finch
She has no markings whatsoever..
She looks like this:

But with an orange beak and faint blackish cheeks. She also has no tear marks, so she doesn't look like your hen, cindy.
Irrelevant, but...
She's had several clutches of eggs, I'm going to say...um, at least ten. But none have EVER hatched. Her mate is another pure white zeb, and he has raised some babies before with another hen. I don't know what's wrong D:

Oh, that does look quite a lot like her. Though she's whiter, yours looks grayish. Maybe lighting?

Mine are bright white but my camera is not very good...the cell phone camera is better....both birds I posted are Black cheek Continental CFW. The first picture is the mom, the second is the daughter.

Re: White Zebra Finch
I forgot one thing!
I was told that there are birds
that are white but are in fact cfw and/or ccfw.
the cfw/ccfw is hidden and the birds seem like
they are just normal white.
I have one bird like this, all white male,
but he is ccfw
I hope I didnt misunderstood the one
who told me this, but zebra colors are bit confusing!!
so your female could be a white cfw or ccfw.
how old is she?
can you try to post a photo of her?
maybe she is not bc but maybe its a nutrition/melanin matter??
please let us know it she is still like this after next molt!

Re: White Zebra Finch
If you were nearby...I have young males that are the same mutation, males have black cheeks, chestnut flanking and black breat bars. What males do you have...Vargur is right though....pictures will help us help you in what she is definately is and what to mate her with based on what males you have.

Re: White Zebra Finch
Really bad picture DX She is about 1 1/2-2 years old.

As you can see, they're quite faint..
Um..I only have normal gray males, a fawn and a white male d:
